Enterprise Content and Document Management for Steel Manufacturing Giant

With multiple business locations and plenty of departments in each location, documents ranging from plant designs, machine designs, project plans, invoices, legal contracts, marketing plans, government documents, etc. are generated almost every day. These documents were in the physical form, and for a state-of-the-art organization like our client, this did not go well.

The physical documents soared to more than 100 thousand, and lacked precise searchability and manageability, dinging the overall productivity of the CMO and the Raw Material Department.

Some of the factors that led to this were inappropriate archiving, haphazard storage across various locations and the lack of a centrally administered monitoring system.If that wasn’t already a lot to deal with, a fair share of aged documents were damaged due to poor preservation.
The organization desired a complete Enterprise Content Management solution, that would digitize the hard copies and store them in a centrally administered repository, providing access across various locations.

Two digitization projects were executed by Somnetics’ ECM (Enterprise Content Management) division at the client’s site.These projects were tailor-made to suit the requirements of each of the departments – RMD and CMO, followed by the installation of i-doc DMS.

Despite the extensive repository of physical data, within the short span of 3 months, both the projects were brought to closure, including scanning and digitization, quality control and uploading of the scanned content on the DMS.

The efficient manner in which Somnetics executed the projects with precise on-time delivery, resulted in earning the trust of this revered client.
